New York yoga classes can help new mom Beyonce recover her physique

When R&B superstar Beyonce gave birth to her daughter in New York, fans had two questions in mind: what will she and hubby Jay-Z name her, and how will she get her Bootylicious figure back? The answers are Blue Ivy Carter and, of course, diet and exercise. Perhaps New York yoga classes or similar regimens would be up her alley, celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins told MTV.

Ordinarily, Jenkins would prescribe diets and between four and five days of exercise, including cardio, endurance training, yoga and other activities. However, when it comes to new moms, more emphasis has to be placed on realistic expectations and enjoyment.

"The goal is to find activities and workouts that you enjoy so that you keep it a part of your life forever. Consistently mix it up, and enjoy working out," Jenkins told MTV. "Try yoga, Pilates, playing in the park with your kids, hiking and kickboxing."

Of course, any regimen a new mom takes up should be cleared with her doctor first, Jenkins said.

For moms who aren't lucky enough to have their own celebrity trainer, Dahn Yoga classes can help support post-pregnancy fitness. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, yoga can improve body composition as well as stress management. So get to a Dahn Yoga center soon. Like Beyonce, you'll fall Crazy In Love!

New York yoga classes unfairly maligned

Ever since William Broad wrote an article in the New York Times linking yoga to conditions such as headache and stroke, an international fury has risen, from New York yoga classes to across the pond in England. Luisa Dillner, a health columnist for The Guardian, wrote about the popularity of yoga – and how to practice the mind-body regimen safely – in a recent article.

There are various forms of yoga, and all of them share three things in common, according to Dillner: postures, relaxation and breathing. However, different styles emphasize various factors, such as strength or contemplation.

When it comes to injuries, people may be more vulnerable when they try to force themselves into extreme positions, such as headstands or shoulder stands.

"It is essential to practice under the guidance of an experienced and reputable teacher. If you get pins and needles or anything goes numb, stop," Dillner wrote in the news source. "Be reflective rather than competitive; do not over-extend anything, ever."

When approached correctly, exercises learned in Dahn Yoga classes or similar courses can have a range of health benefits. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a division of the National Institutes of Health, yoga can improve heart rate, blood pressure, lung capacity and physical composition.

Exercising stress relief in the office is an employable skill

These days, job-seekers are looking for any competitive edge. Some people are early adopters of technology, while others become fluent in different languages. Some people are even turning to yoga to bolster their job prospects. After all, being able to exercise stress relief in the office may make one an attractive hire, according to The Grindstone.

Maryanna Klatt, a researcher who studies the impact of meditation in the workplace, believes that one's perception of stress can affect job performance.

"I like to describe mindfulness as changing the way you see what's already there. It's a tool that teaches people to become aware of their options," Klatt told the news source. "If they can't change the external events in their life, they can instead change the way they view the stress, which can make a difference in how they experience their day-to-day life."

In fact, some prominent companies – including AT&T, IBM and MSN – have incorporated yoga into their wellness programs. It is estimated that for every $1 invested in such initiatives, up to $6 are saved in healthcare spending, according to the news source.

People who are interested in Dahn Yoga and stress relief should remember that this mind-body regimen doesn't just have psychological benefits. Yoga can also improve muscle strength, flexibility and body composition, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

For Cheryl Burke, yoga is not just for natural stress relief

Dancing with the Stars celebrity Cheryl Burke definitely knows what it's like to perform under pressure. After all, she's been partnered up with a popular football player, a professional wrestler and a Kardashian! As someone in the public eye, she can have an appreciation for natural stress relief and, as she explained to People Magazine, for balance.

"If I go a week without working out, it makes me feel that I might as well keep indulging," Burke said, as quoted by the news source. "If you really care about your body, then your mind starts to work better. So it's important that it all stays balanced."

Burke also recommended that everyone take up whatever activity they find fun, whether it's yoga or something outdoors-y.

When asked about who she would love to partner up with next, Burke told the magazine she'd love to dance with Antonio Banderas.

Dancing with El Mariachi? She'll need balance!

For people who are curious about the mind-body regimen, Dahn yoga classes are available. They would certainly be in good company, too. According to a 2008 survey conducted by the Yoga Journal, 18.3 million American non-practitioners expressed interest in the exercise, which was triple the figure from 2004.

The Great Gatsby’s message still holds up 86 years later

As most Dahn Yoga practitioners know, money can't buy everything, including personal growth, and there is much more to life than living in an opulent mansion throwing lavish parties. The characters in the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic The Great Gatsby find this out the hard way, but the novel can be a lesson in breaking free of materialism.

The book follows the exploits of wealthy socialites living in a well-to-do section of Long Island. No person is more renowned, nor more mysterious, than the eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby who lives among them.

Gatsby, in love with the married Daisy Buchanan, uses all his wealth to impress her, but when he he eventually come to find out all the riches in the world could not bring him happiness nor win him the woman of his dreams.

Fitzgerald's book was the perfect fit for the time, when decadence reigned supreme and the United States was on the brink of the Great Depression. However its message about personal relationship trumping personal wealth still rings true today.

Respecting office common areas is important in the working world

While obviously working is the most important thing that people need to focus on while in the office, respect for common areas is also essential. By being respectful of these places, one can convey to their superiors their professionalism and thus may be seen in a better light by managers.

Most companies have a common kitchen where people store their lunches, make coffee and heat up food in the microwave. This is a nice perk to have but often times people allow the kitchen to become dirty, assuming that someone else will clean up their mess.

One of the biggest problem spots in the office kitchen can be the refrigerator. The refrigerator is a great place to store one's lunch, but it is important to be considerate of others by keeping one's lunch in as small a container as possible and making sure not to let food languish in it for weeks on end, taking up valuable space.

Another important part of the office kitchen is the microwave, but many things can splatter in the microwave. While it may be tempting to get to one's re-heated Chinese food right away, taking a few seconds to wipe the microwave clean can go a long way.

Dahn Yoga teaches that often what someone is thinking is reflected in his or her environment. By keeping the office tidy, one is demonstrating that their mind is focused, clear and ready for work.

Engineer brings yoga to the office

Good employers know that keeping their workers healthy and happy is the key to a peaceful, productive office environment. This was the basis for the introduction of yoga into electronics engineer Bhaskar Goswami's workplace, according to the Montreal Gazette.

He had practiced the regimen as a young man and had experienced its benefits – namely, better health and stress relief – firsthand. He sought to bring the ancient Eastern art directly into the work environment, recruiting a total of 17 yoga teachers for weekly sessions that have soothed more than 500 employees.

"The corporate culture is shifting," Goswami explained, quoted by the news source. "People are extremely stressed and they want relief."

He added that workers often have refined intellects but don't know how to look after them. Practicing yoga not only calms them after a long, hard day of work, but enhances their emotional, mental and physical well-being.

More employees across the country are realizing the vast benefits that come with practicing a regimen such as Dahn Yoga, whether the exercise is offered by the employers or is something that they choose to do at home.

Yoga has many benefits for both brain and body

The benefits of yoga – such as those acquired from Dahn Yoga – touch every aspect of a practitioner's life, according to students for whom the exercise has improved health, vitality and balance. ABC 12 News reports that although most people think of the technique as a workout, it is a mental practice for many.

In fact, much evidence has emerged in recent years that yoga strengthens cognitive function. According to research Chris Streeter, the exercise releases brain chemicals that are triggered when an individual is happy. These compounds are generated during and after a session, stimulating the brain, boosting practitioners' mood and decreasing levels of anxiety.

"Yoga definitely cleanses your body," said one student, quoted by the media outlet. "It sort of clears away the stress."

Recent findings – such as the fact that an hour of yoga boosted these beneficial brain chemicals 27 percent more effectively than relaxing with a book – may be good news for the approximately 30 million people all over the world who enjoy the benefits of yoga.

Strengthening the mind, toning the body and looking within during a peaceful, relaxing session can be the key to making a hectic life more meaningful and manageable.
