Make the trek up Mount Nyiragongo

There are many benefits of yoga, such as improving one's strength and endurance. However, there is one benefit in particular that may stay with you for life – the ability to enjoy nature and feel one with the earth. Curious travelers may want to go on an active holiday to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where they can go on an excursion through Mount Nyiragongo and marvel at some of the most awe-inspiring natural sights in the world.

Those who want to hike up the mountain will find thriving wildlife roaming in their lowland forest habitat. The mountain is actually a very active volcano, and while that may sound dangerous, it is a popular tourist attraction that is very safe when navigated responsibly. Hikers can trek up to the peak to see a steaming lava lake, which is one of only five magma pools on earth that exist within a crater cone.

The peak is a fantastic vantage point, as visitors have an amazing panoramic view of Virunga National Park, which has been deemed a World Heritage Site.

India is home to the sacred Harmandir Sahib

Those who are considering a trip to the birthplace of yoga, India, should make sure to include the Harmandir Sahib in their itinerary, as the Golden Temple is a must-see for any vacationer in the area.

Located in Amritsar, the golden building is one of the most important monuments in the Sikh religion, which originated in 15th-century Punjab. It is situated in the midst of the Amrit Sarovar reflecting pool, where pilgrims bathe before entering the sacred temple. This is an excellent area to take a moment and practice breathing exercises to help truly absorb the experience.

The Harmandir Sahib is accessible via a crowded walking bridge, which leads to the main building where they can observe recitations of Adi Granth scripture. The grounds are a fascinating place to roam.

Those who are interested in learning more about Sikhism will be able to speak with religious practitioners at the temple, who are pleased to share experiences and knowledge about their faith and customs with curious minds. They may even offer to take visitors on a guided tour of the temple complex.

Take a walk through Riverside Park

Travelers who are heading to New York may want to practice some of the relaxation techniques learned in Dahn Yoga classes by visiting Riverside Park. The area features a four-mile-long path that stretches along the famous Hudson River called the Cherry Walk, which gets its name from a section of the trail peppered with beautiful cherry trees.

Not only is the Cherry Walk an official scenic landmark that provides a number of unforgettable panoramic views, it also has a fascinating background. According to New York City's Department of Parks and Recreation, "the rugged bluffs and rocky outcroppings once descended directly to the Hudson River shore and were densely wooded during the Native American habitation." In the 1840s, a railroad was built through the area and at the turn of the century, the cherry trees were added by the Committee of Japanese Residents of New York.

Walking through the park is a great way to see some wonderful views of the city, which will help relieve stress and contribute to a feeling of inner peace.
