Yoga is a holistic mind-body exercise that can help alleviate ailments like chronic foot pain and migraine headaches. Dogs are wonderful pets that may lower your blood pressure and relieve stress. Given the widespread positive effects of both practicing yoga and owning a dog, just imagine how beneficial it would be to combine the two. This is the idea behind "doga," or dog yoga, in which enthusiasts bring along their furry best friends for some techniques designed to enhance inner peace and relaxation.

Many instructors say that the practice is a wonderful way to build up a spiritual connection between humans and animals, according to the International Business Times. Canines are pack animals, which may make them an ideal match for yoga's focus on harmony and union with nature.

"To live in harmony with all beings, including dogs, is a truly yogic principle," said yoga instructor Julie Lawrence, quoted by the news source.

If you and your canine companion are interested in trying yoga for stress relief, how about giving the follow maneuvers a shot?

1. If you have a small dog, sit on the floor with your legs extended straight in front of you. Place your pet in your lap. Gently bend your torso forward and touch your toes, resting your cheek on your dog's back as you do so. Hold for a count of 15 seconds.

2. If you have a big dog, have them lie down on the floor. Sit on its right with your legs stretched out in front of you. Place your left hand on your pet's back and bend your torso toward it, reaching toward the ceiling with your right. Hold for a count of 20 seconds, then release and repeat on the other side.
