Yoga instructors celebrate summer solstice by welcoming more enthusiasts
The summer solstice is at hand, and a group of devoted yoga practitioners are gathering to celebrate the arrival of the new season, according to the Worthington Daily Globe. Certified instructors Melissa Remme and Margaret Hurlbut Vosburgh are leading the event, which is called Mind Over Madness, inspired by a festival that has taken place in New York City's Times Square for the past nine years.
The two women teach yoga at community centers and are determined to encourage more people to join in the relaxing mind-body program.
"We wanted to create a greater awareness of yoga, celebrate the arrival of summer and get more people interested and involved," Remme told the news source. "It will probably be an hour-long class that will be very basic, very gentle, nothing advanced or strenuous."
According to Vosburgh, the event will feature "user-friendly yoga" that caters to individuals of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. Whether one is a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, one can surely appreciate the improved mindfulness and relaxation that comes with engaging in yoga in the great outdoors.
