Employer introduces yoga to relieve workers' stress and tension

All over the world, people have experienced the benefits of yoga. Stressed mothers, tired workers and even chronically ill patients have found solace in the gentle breathing techniques and postures of the regimen.

Recently, a study conducted among NHS North Somerset workers in the UK found that practicing yoga resulted in greater satisfaction and contentment, the Weston Mercury reported. These results were observed after hospital employers implemented free yoga and mindfulness sessions in hopes of helping individuals focus and relieve stress.

The classes, which were paid for by a charitable fund raised by Clevedon Hospital patients, encouraged a better balance between life and work among the staff members.

According to chief executive officer Chris Born, who was quoted by the news source, the participants "are acutely aware that patient care must remain the trust's main priority, and it is up to us to ensure that our employees have the working environment and support they need in order to continue delivering those services."

The trend of introducing yoga into the workplace is also widely observed in the U.S., where more employees are seeking to reduce stress and increase satisfaction among workers through the implementation of mindfulness programs.
