Science of energy

I don’t know how ancient people found out and mapped energy points and pathways in the human body. It is so fascinating how accurately all the energy points and channels represent and connect to certain organs and emotions. 375 acupressure points, 12 meridian channels, and 7 energy centers (like a yearly calendar). The more I practice and study Dahn Yoga, I am amazed by the wisdom of ancient people and civilization.

What is Hwal Gong?

This is the Korean term for what we know as ”massage.”  There are two syllables in this word: the first, “Hwal” means to give life, activate, make it alive, circulate; the second, “Gong” to put labor or effort into something, practice, realization. So as you do Hwal Gong, you are giving life energy to your partner for their health, happiness and peace. That is giving love.

Bow Meditation

One of my favorite meditation methods is Bow Meditation. It is also called Sincerity Meditation. Using the most humble gesture of full bowing, you can connect with your body, mind, and soul all together. Each time I bow, I humble myself and accept divine essence within me and all of us. If you are a Dahn Yoga practitioner, ask your head instructor and learn this dynamic meditation. You will enjoy it!

Pitch in to help the environment

NY Dahn Yoga centers will start collecting hazardous materials for proper disposal in October.  Dahn Yoga instructors know the importance of caring for the earth and have recommended centers encourage their communities to take action to help protect the environment.  The centers will provide a drop-off area for items such as used batteries, old paint, and other hazardous materials that cannot be disposed of in a normal fashion, and will bring them designated collection areas.  So check your basement and garage for things that need proper disposal.

Walk for Hope

Around this time of year all the non-profit organizations are holding their annual walk-a-thons to promote awareness for their cause and raise money to support their programs.  All causes are worthy and deserve our support.  If you have time available to you, volunteering your time to raise some funds and gathering others to walk with you is a great way to get in some exercise while helping people in need.  This weekend members and instructors from NY area Dahn Yoga centers are supporting the Suicide Prevention Walk by teaching some warm-up stretching and giving walkers access to Brain Education programs which can directly address conditions of depression and grief.

Dancing like a pro at 76

A 76 years young lady from Brooklyn Heights Dahn Yoga center took this weekend’s Self Discovery (ShimSung) workshop. She inspired all other participants by dancing like a pro and used her 100% energy during the workshop. She shared that her stomach problem was gone and her previously operated toes had more circulation and balance since she had started Dahn Yoga and private healing sessions. Her coworkers and neighbors often ask her secrets of sudden rejuvenation and health. She recommends Dahn Yoga to everyone who asks her.
Truly age is just a number, programmed preconception by the society. If she can do, YOU can do!

A street fair in Franklin Square, LI

Today, Sunday (9/23/07) afternoon, Franklin Square Dahn Yoga center participated in a street fair hosted by Lion’s Club in Franklin Square, Long Island, NY. Two instructors and a healer from FS center spread out good vibes to the community with big HSP (Health, Smile, Peace) smile. They showed BEST 5 program video and took aura photos for curious visitors. The weather was beautiful, and people enjoyed visiting the booth and took brochures. Some of them made appointments for individual introductory sessions. We are expanding community outreach activities and planning to do more in the future. If you have any local events in NY, please call the nearest Dahn Yoga center and let us know~

What is Self Discovery workshop?

Self Discovery(SD) workshop also is called Finding True Self or ShimSung(opening heart). It is considered one of the most profound programs in the BEST 5 training methods. SD is designed to help you look honestly and carefully at mental and emotional habits that keep you from living the life you want to live.

You know none of the Dahn Yoga center’s workshop is seminar, always experiential! I quoted the following descriptions from the BEST 5 Handbook.

“Through a wide variety of games and experiential activities, you will closely examine patterns of thinking that undermine relationships, and face habits that sabotage the achievement of completely satisfying life.”

Dahn Yoga For MS

There is a new Dahn Yoga video coming out made specifically for people living with Multiple Sclerosis.  It should be available fo rdistribution by the end of October.  Kathie Downie, a Dahn Yoga Instructor from Glendale, Arizona was able to regain her health after suffering severly from MS for many years through her Dahn Yoga practice.  She grew so strong that she began teaching to MS patients around the Phoenix area.  It was her initiative that got this video made.  I hope she’ll come to New York and present it to the NY MS Foundation.
