Last weekend I went to the New Life Expo in NYC. There were diverse holistic health and self help modality vendors and speakers–from health food to spiritual healers to heal body, mind, and spirit. I was delighted and amazed by the packed rooms. I feel we are living in the era of massive awakening. Most of us feel a need for positive changes individually and collectively. The beauty of practicing Dahn Yoga is the integration of ancient healing arts with latest brain science and even metaphisics in such simple ways–body work, breath work, dance, martial arts, sound and vibration healing, energy work, meditation, spiritual practice, brain education and much more. Some people call the Dahn Yoga practice “one-stop shop”. Yes, I can practice ancient healing arts combined with brain science on a daily basis. I don’t need to wander around the expo anymore to find a better way to heal my self and grow. I’ve found a perfect solution.

Pain in the neck
As the weather gets cooler, you may feel more aches in the body. Last week during the class, a member at my Dahn Yoga center said quite loudly “It’s a miracle. A sharp pain in my neck has gone. It has been there since April (now it’s October).” We did a neck exercise to stimulate major acupressure points on the base of the skull–moving a neck backward & side by side using one’s own weight of the head combining with a breath work. To her and all other members amazement, she was able to release the persistence pain in her neck!

Power to Change
So many self-help books are published, and we read them. Any noticeable changes in our lives individually and collectively? We already have more than enough wisdom and insight, yet it is so difficult to change ourselves and the world. What is missing? Power to take actions. ”No Action, No Creation.” It is so true.
One of the major changes I have experienced over the years of practicing Dahn Yoga is this. My ability to take prompt actions has increased significantly. My tendency to procrastinate has diminished greatly. This ancient body mind training definitely helped me grow far more than I had expected. I got the power to change my body, brain and life!

Laughing medicine
I’ve been doing laughing meditation (medication ^__^) for sometime. I laugh “just because” until my belly aches and my eyes become teary. It takes only a few minutes to do so. You cannot understand how you will feel unless you try it. We can choose to laugh for no reason. We can choose our emotions. Laughing meditation can be viewed as BEST (Brain Education System Training) step 3 and 4-Brain Refreshing and Integrating. In the middle of almost uncontrollable laugh, energy sweeps through my whole body. I feel my brain gets clear, and my whole body vibrates. Laughing is the BEST medicine, better than just smiling!

Choosing emotions
Last Sunday’s BEST (Brain Education System Training) 5 workshop called Initial Awakening reminded me that we can CHOOSE our emotions. Emotions are energy, and we can change them with deeper understanding of our energy and the brain. To develop the power of mastering our emotions, we need to experience the energy, not understand it intellectually. Dahn Yoga (study of energy) is the best program I’ve ever experienced to help me master my body, brain, mind, and life.

Dahn Yoga and Brain Education’s Humble Start
I heard the story of Ilchi Lee’s beginnings at a park in Korea teaching one stroke victim. It took him five years to open his first center in Korea with the help of 9 of his students. Then when 50 centers were built in Korea, he came to the United States to share his practice and ancient principles here. I’m grateful that he came here!

Aura photo
Many Dahn Yoga centers offer Aura pictures and its interpretation service. Similar to Kirlian photography, the aura photo shows how bio-magnetic field colors change depending on a person’s physical, emotional spiritual well being conditions. I hope someday soon, we can have a machine that can capture moving images of aura of a person.

Yoga and voicing
If you are already a yoga practitioner, you know people chant during the yoga class, mostly using ancient Indian language Sanskrit words like aum~At a Dahn Yoga center, we use variety of voices and sounds to open up energy points, channels, and centers in the body. Sound produces vibration, which is a form of energy. Molacules of the body change–heal or harm–depending on the sound, frequency, and even meaning. Isn’t it cool?

Science of energy
I don’t know how ancient people found out and mapped energy points and pathways in the human body. It is so fascinating how accurately all the energy points and channels represent and connect to certain organs and emotions. 375 acupressure points, 12 meridian channels, and 7 energy centers (like a yearly calendar). The more I practice and study Dahn Yoga, I am amazed by the wisdom of ancient people and civilization.

What is Hwal Gong?
This is the Korean term for what we know as ”massage.” There are two syllables in this word: the first, “Hwal” means to give life, activate, make it alive, circulate; the second, “Gong” to put labor or effort into something, practice, realization. So as you do Hwal Gong, you are giving life energy to your partner for their health, happiness and peace. That is giving love.
